This was a commission to create artwork for an event my client, US author Travis Laughlin, was attending, a table runner featuring all the illustrations I'd done for his book series, as well as all the artwork for the book covers. Out of the eight books in the series, apart from creating many of the illustrations, I was commissioned to re-work the covers for Books 1 and 2.

The idea for the vertical banner image was pretty simple: Raider, the main character in the series, and Marleen, who started as his main love interest, are basically starting to walk down different paths, albeit rather unintentionally.

My idea was to have Raider cast in a cold light but walking towards the warmth whereas Marleen was the opposite.

This is now the most detailed image I have worked on, and I'm quite proud of how it has turned out, especially when I saw it in all its larger-than-life glory!
